Bolton CVS
Bolton CVS began in 1990. Two previous attempts to create a CVS in Bolton were unsuccessful. June Corner was Chair of the steering group that established CVS as we know it today and became the first Chair of Bolton CVS. Bolton Council awarded a grant of £50,000 for a period of three years, a staggering accomplishment at the time. This funded a General Secretary (now known as the Chief Officer), a Development Worker and an Administration Worker. Bolton CVS provides a range of information through our newsletter, our website, our information leaflets and email communications. Provides advice and support to help your organisation find and apply for funding. Provides learning and personal development opportunities on a wide range of subjects. Supports a range of forums to maintain strong channels of communication between voluntary and community groups and local statutory organisations such as Bolton Council, the NHS and local funders. Supports volunteers and promotes good practice to volunteer involving organisations. Manages The Bolton Hub - a centre for local voluntary and community groups. Administers a number of small grants for voluntary and community groups, on behalf of a variety of funders. Promotes and develops the Big Bolton Fund, to support small voluntary groups in their work.
